Dr. Honeywood is a physician who believes in the beauty of life—through adventure, compassion, and the privilege of walking alongside her patients in their most vulnerable moments.
Last year, she and her husband, also a physician, set out on an unforgettable journey, traveling across North America in a travel trailer with their beloved nine-year-old Great Dane. From the sun-kissed landscapes of Mexico and the vast roads of the United States to the familiar shores of Canada, they embraced every mile. They crossed back into Canada at Sarnia, reunited with family in Nova Scotia, and wound their way around the breathtaking Cabot Trail of Cape Breton—this time, wisely leaving the travel trailer behind. Their return to Vernon was a leisurely, four-week odyssey filled with reflection and gratitude for the places and people they encountered.
Dr. Honeywood’s professional journey has been just as meaningful. Since moving to Vernon from the Kootenays in 2012, she has dedicated her career to both palliative care and operative anesthesia. She also administers the Medical Assistance in Dying (MAID) program—a role she describes as deeply fulfilling. To her, guiding patients and families through the end-of-life process is not just work; it is a profound honor. Even in their final days, her patients continue to share wisdom, laughter, and stories that remind her of the resilience and richness of the human experience.
With a heart full of adventure and a soul devoted to care, Dr. Honeywood embodies the balance of living fully and serving with love
